Phil Howard is the latest top chef to try his hand at food delivery. His Chelsea flagship Elystan Street is offering luxurious three course meals for people to cook at home.

Is The Boss moving into restaurant delivery?

Err, no. E-Street refers to Phil Howard and Rebecca Mascarenhas’ celebrated Chelsea restaurant Elystan Street. Trialled over the last few weeks and now about to go fully live, E-Street @ Your Street sees three course meals of Howard’s refined modern French food delivered across the capital Thursday through to Saturday.

How does it work?

A little elbow grease is required – the food arrives prepped and neatly arranged in eco-friendly packaging. Home cooks must channel their inner sous chef and cook and plate it themselves, but detailed instructions with pictures of how the food should look are included.

How much does it cost?

The price ticks up as the week progresses reflecting the more luxurious ingredients used: £40 on Thursday, £45 on Friday and £50 on Saturday. Given Phil’s pedigree and the quality of the ingredients it’s a total bargain.

What’s on the menu?

The food is perhaps a little more homely than that offered in the restaurant itself but the menu still reads beautiful. How about pea and ham soup with little ham hock wraps followed by roast breast of chicken with parmesan gnocchi and a sauté of new season girolles and Eton mess? Or perhaps ravioli of scallops, langoustines and salmon with asparagus followed by glazed short rib of beef with creamed potato, wild mushrooms and red wine and creme caramel with golden raisins?

I’m in. How does delivery work?

That’s yet to be confirmed but we understand much of central London is included. The food is delivered by the restaurant staff themselves and wine is also available. Get in touch with the restaurant for more details.

What else has Phil been up to?

Phil and the Elystan Street team have been keeping busy by cooking 100 meals a day for the nearby Royal Brompton Hospital. He plans to keep feeding the hospital’s “wonderful medics and support staff” until they tell him to stop, which may not be for some time given how delicious his cooking is.
