Estrella Damm, the beer of Barcelona, is the headline sponsor for the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards, an event that celebrates the breadth of top-class restaurants the UK has to offer.

Estrella Damm’s long-standing support of gastronomy and the wider hospitality industry is underpinned by a high quality and natural approach to its own brewing process. Brewed in Barcelona, it’s made to the original 1876 recipe, using local and 100% natural ingredients: barley malt, rice and hops, resulting in a combination that pairs beautifully with food.

This Mediterranean lager takes inspiration from its collaborative production process to partner with the most innovative chefs and restaurants to raise the profile of quality beer and food pairing in the UK.

Estrella Damm has a long history of sustainable practices, including only using certified green energy and locally sourced ingredients to brew its beer. In 2020, it replaced all plastic rings on canned packs with 100% biodegradable and recyclable cardboard. This removed 89 million rings, representing 99 tonnes of plastic from its business.

The brand also uses labels and packaging materials that are respectful to the environment and have been awarded the PEFC and FSC certifications, which confirm that the cardboard used has been sourced from sustainably and responsibly managed forests. As well as this they repurpose organic waste as animal feed and have optimised water resources, resulting in a 34% reduction in water consumption in the last decade.
