Jason Atherton scored a masterstroke when he partnered with former The Ritz head chef Spencer Metzger to lead the kitchen at Row on 5, his Savile Row restaurant that opened in December 2024. Together the pair have created one of the most striking new restaurants of the past 12 months, with it winning a Michelin star just a few months after opening.

Where Row on 5 excels is in its attention to detail. As diners descend the steps to the subterranean entrance of the restaurant their presence triggers the sounds of exotic birds that provide a calming soundtrack as they wait to be let in. Once inside guests are greeted with a smart reception desk before being led into an opulent lounge area in which there is a well-stocked champagne cellar, two separate wine cellars and a kitchen island to which they are invited to try one of the early bites on the menu.

Diners are then led up to the spacious ground floor dining room that has a large open kitchen as its focal point. What then follows is a procession of courses, many of which are prepared tableside, made using the highest quality ingredients possible.

If all this wasn’t enough, the restaurant offers a dry-cleaning service when guests check in their coats, meaning you’ll leave that little bit fresher than when you came in.
