Led by chef-patron Andrew Pern, with chef Stephen Smith leading the kitchen, The Star Inn serves modern British cooking grounded in classical technique and driven by Yorkshire produce and has put the village of Harome on the culinary map.
Ingredients are sourced from across the region, including fish from Whitby, game from the moors, and vegetables from the kitchen garden, forming the foundation of a rich, flavour-driven approach to modern British cooking. The menu features a number of signature dishes alongside other seasonal plates that change regularly depending on produce availability.
The restaurant offers a broad drinks programme, including an evolving wine list which changes to reflect the produce-led seasonal Yorkshire menus alongside hand-pulled ales from the pub bar, cocktails, and a detailed selection of Churchill's ports.
Housed in a historic 14th-century thatched building, the pub was dramatically reduced to ashes following a fire in 2021 but was painstakingly restored to its former beauty and reopened a year later. Under Pern's leadership, it was one of the first pubs in England to be awarded a Michelin star.
