Inspired by the summer residences and social clubs of Northern India, Ambassadors Clubhouse was conceived as a more high-energy counterpoint to Gymkhana. Opened by JKS Restaurants on Heddon Street, the restaurant swaps Gymkhana's dark, masculine interiors for something altogether brighter and more theatrical, targeting a younger, nightlife-oriented crowd without compromising on food.
The menu is a celebration of undivided Punjab, blending the rustic cooking of roadside dhabas with the richness and ceremony of royal North Indian dining. Designed around abundance and sharing, dishes arrive with a side order of drama, from the signature mutton keema naan paired with bone marrow masala to smoky grills such as Shahi Patiala lamb chops and Original BBQ butter chicken chops. Distinct from Gymkhana's broader North Indian remit, Ambassadors Clubhouse leans heavily into Punjabi techniques and regional specialities. Clay pot matka curries and karahi dishes form the backbone of the menu, with examples including guinea fowl Changezi and Ranjit Shahi lobster curry, while oversized biryanis and pilaus are intended for larger groups and celebratory dining.
Cocktails play an equally central role in the experience. The drinks list takes inspiration from the flamboyant 'party mansion' culture of Northern India, with a bold, tequila-led programme designed to match the restaurant's more energetic atmosphere and late-night ambitions.
The interiors reinforce this positioning throughout. Warm terracotta tones, deep greens and gold detailing give the ground floor the feel of a grand colonial-era residence reimagined by a younger generation (which is exactly the case), with open sightlines and a lively dining room creating what the group describes as the 'theatre of hospitality'. The downstairs is more night club-like, with a DJ booth, high-spec sound system and dance floor.
