Simon Rogan’s Aulis chef’s counter restaurant concept was born in The Lake District but can now also be found in London, Hong Kong and most recently Thailand. Located just off Soho’s Dean Street, Aulis London is overseen by Rogan’s executive head chef Oli Marlow and head chef Charlie Tayler (as the chef responsible for the restaurant day-to-day, the latter never misses a service).

In 2023, the restaurant underwent a major glow up that saw it double in size to 12 covers and become more of a complete restaurant experience thanks to the addition of a new adjoining lounge area for guests to have drinks before or after dinner. Design details include a striking stone countertop that spans the main dining space, rich green furnishings and earthy tones alongside warm hues and multi-textural accents.

The St Anne’s Court restaurant serves a tasting menu created using ingredients predominantly sourced from Rogan’s Lake District farm Our Farm. Because it is so closely linked to the farm, the 16-course menu changes regularly with Aulis London offering what is perhaps the purest form of Rogan’s creative and focused produce-led cooking. In general dishes are exclusively developed for Aulis but there are a few takes on Rogan classics, not least his famous truffle pudding caramelised in birch sap.

Aulis London's USP is its counter setup and low number of covers, which is designed to encourage constant interaction between the guests and the team. For those who can't get to Cumbria to try Rogan's flagship restaurant L'Enclume, this is a very enjoyable alternative.
